Tuacahn, Park City, and a Batiste Giveaway

The weekend is just about here and I'm oh! so excited because I'm going out of town not once, but twice, over the next few days.

Tomorrow, Harper and I are heading to St. George to meet up with my parents and nieces to see The Little Mermaid. For over a decade, the girls in my family have been making a yearly trip to Tuacahn and I'm so excited that Harper is joining us this year (my dad is also joining us for this show, which is further proof of just how much he loves Harper).

We've seen some really great shows, like South Pacific, Les Miserables, and Singing in the Rain. It's so fun to look back and think about how much we have all changed over the past ten years. Skye and Crystal (nieces) were just little texting-obsessed tweens when we started going. Now they are grown up college girls with jobs, babies (for one of them, at least), and boyfriends (some days, at least). Craziness.

Here we are back in 2008, waiting to see The Sound of Music.

I'll be home from St. George on Saturday, but not for long. Colt and I are heading to Park City for a night away with our friends.

I'll be re-sharing some of my favorite posts during the days that I'm gone.

I've had about a a dozen people ask me about dry shampoo. I use dry shampoo three or four times a week and I love it. The best advice I can give about it is that you shouldn't use too much. A little bit goes a really long way. Also, be sure that you don't hold the bottle too close to your head or else you're going to get too much product in one spot and it's going to look like your head is dusty.

Most recently I've been using Dirty Little Secret from TIGI. It smells sort of funny but works really well. My favorite is Batiste. It comes in an old school green bottle and it's awesome. They have a pinkish bottle too, but I don't like the way it smells. You can find Batiste at Sally's, Ulta, or online.

For extra entries, you may tweet, blog, or facebook about the giveaway. Leave a separate comment for each along with a link back to your post.

I hit the store last night to buy some more Batiste and thought it would be fun to do a giveaway.

I'm giving away one bottle of Batiste. Leave a comment with your name, your e-mail address, and your favorite hair product.

You must be a Diligent Joy follower to enter.

I'll use random.org to choose a winner on Monday at noon (MST).

  1. Yay giveaway! :)
Favorite hair product is the Tresemme Smooth and Silky No Frizz Shine Spray. Whenever I need to straighten my hair this stuff is the best. Even though it is considered a "cheap product" and I'm usually a bit uptight about what I use on my hair, this stuff rocks.

  5. (Don't post my last comment! I'm totally lame. I skimmed the bottom half of the post and didn't see the rules.)

I bought dry shampoo two days ago on your recommendation. I used it today and love it! No more greasy hair, saves oodles of time, and my hair looks great! I'd love to win this, but even if I don't, thanks for the tip!

The product I love the most is Paul Mitchell's "skinny serum." Makes my wavy hair perfectly straight when I need.

  6. My favorite hair product is dry shampoo (I've only tried tressemme so far but it's pretty good) or baby powder (for my bangs!)- don't knock it till you try it people! Dry shampoo is great for my hair over all but hasn't worked well on my bangs. Baby powder does wonders!

  9. My fav hair product is Big Sexy Hair's Play Dirty Hairspray. It's like wax hairspray and gives my long hair some texture and it's also awesome for short hair styles.

Email me at hotfries7@hotmail.com (I know it's super juvenile but it's the one I check the most. :))

  12. I honestly don't use many hair products. I've been the shower-wash-blow-dry-every-day girl for so long and I'm just now deciding to embrace the life of not washing my hair every day. So, in reality the only hair products that I use are shampoo and conditioner and the occasional hairspray. I'm excited to get (or win...) some dry shampoo and see what it can do! Here is my question, though: does it still work if you exercise and become a sweaty mess every day? I wake up every morning and run. By the time I get home, I am a mess (TMI?). That's why I wash my hair every day. I just can't see a way around it. Hopefully dry shampoo will be the miracle solution I've been praying for :)

  13. Sounds a little silly but my favorite hair product is Pantene Pro-V Curly conditioner....for now. It will probably change with the season or my cycle or my mood.

  16. I'd love to try it! My hair is super long and straight lately, and I really love Pantene's Straighten and Smooth Creme. It makes my prone-to-tangles naturally curly hair so easy to brush after I shower, and it keeps the frizz out!
