6 Month Photos

Harper had her 6 month photos taken almost two weeks ago. Please don't talk to me about the fact that she will be 7 months old next week. I'm not ready to face it. Let's just stick to the photos for now. She wasn't the happiest of babies that day but our photographer (Whitney Linn Photography) was more than patient with both Harper and me. I was even in a few of the shots. I am crazy about the photos which is probably because I am so crazy about my sweet baby...

I'll upload more images later, but here are a few for now...

Much Needed R&R

Sunday, April 25, 2010
Colt worked 12 days in a row without a break. He was up by 4:30 every morning for almost two weeks. It was so tiring for him and sad for me because I missed him. We'd see one another for a couple of hours every night and that was it. Add to that the fact that we have been so busy trying to get settled into our house that we've barely had a chance to breath and you have two people desperate for a time out. Well finally, on Friday, Colt had a day off. I'm not kidding when I say we didn't leave the house once. We spent the all of Friday at home, doing basically nothing and it was great to relax together. Yesterday we ventured out for a shopping trip and a visit to the lake at Daybreak, where we enjoyed a long, but refreshing, walk with our girls.

Happy Spring!

April 23, 2010
Harper and I are loving spring... for many reasons, the first being that we both get to sport our new spring clothes. She looks fabulous in her sun dresses and shorts and is more than happy to go sockless almost every day. I don't about looking fabulous myself but I do love turning coats and sweaters in for skirts and tank tops. Yeah, yeah...sunshine, blossoming trees, and the other warm weather delights that come with spring are nice too. We've been spending as much time as possible outside the past few weeks. We enjoy a long walk with Hazel every morning and usually spend each afternoon outside playing with Theo. I normally bring a blanket along for Harper, but on the day pictured below, I didn't have one. She hated sitting on the grass and kept making faces to let me know how un-comfortable she was!
Miss Harper doesn't like the grass!
Last Saturday, we went to a baby shower where Harper got to play with one of her baby friends. Oakley is 2 months older than Harper and is absolutely adorable! I made them sit together for a few photos.
Baby feet! Harper is in pink and Oakley is in purple.
Try as I might, I couldn't get them to smile at the same time. Oakley was not amused with my singing/dancing/toy wiggling efforts.
We recently realized that we never take photos of Harper with us. We have about 10 pics of us to the over 300 we have taken of Harper. Here is my attempt to remedy this situation. I have absolutely no childhood photos with my parents. I don't want Harper to grow up and find herself in the same situation.
Mama's girl, for sure!
We are so happy in our new house and have been quite busy enjoying life. Softball season has started for Colt, which means we will be unavailable every Monday and Wednesday evening for the rest of summer. We are purchasing a Hogle Zoo pass and plan on visiting at least once each week. We have many things to look forward to. Weddings, showers, new babies, parties, lake trips, Vegas getaways, and many zoo/park/aquarium days should make for a great spring and summer!

A Most Joyful Update!

April 12, 2010
There is so much to be grateful for that I don't know where to begin.

Finally, finally, finally.... WE MOVED! We have been here just over a week and it's been amazing to have peace, privacy, quiet, and closet space. I am suddenly light-hearted and happy again, busy playing house and loving Colt, Harper, and Hazel. We are so happy here. We have dishes and couches, our kitchen table is drying in the garage (just you wait for the pics of my newest project... hint: the table is named after a favorite fictional character), internet was installed today, cable is coming tomorrow, etc. We are slowly putting our home together and it's wonderful to finally have a home for our happy family of four. Pics of our place will come soon. For now, you may have a teaser...

Here is Hazel enjoying the bay window in our bedroom!

Harper turned six months on the 7th of April. I cried as I sang "Happy Half-Birthday to You" that morning. I cried several more times throughout the day. This milestone was completely bitter-sweet for me. I am so in love with her ever developing personality and the almost daily changes that I am blessed to witness, but it's like her babyhood is slipping from me too quickly. These six months felt like the blink of an eye. In another half-year, which I'm sure will also fly by, she will be a toddling one year old. Before I know it, she will be a sassy little girl/teenager/grown woman and I'll never get to kiss her baby feet again. This motherhood calling brings an impossible love into my life. It has pulled the heart from my chest and placed it point blank on my sleeve, breakable, joyful, and vulnerable all at the same time. I'm certain this won't be the only birthday that I cry over. I'm also certain that we have the most adorable six month old that ever lived...

Good morning sweet six month old! She loves to play with my lip glosses.
She got a high chair and some treats for her half-birthday. She was so excited to check everything out and even more so to knock it all onto the floor. (Spoiled, we know....)
Celebrating with a baby biscuit!

Harper's First Easter... Or 2nd Christmas?

April 12, 2010
Happy Easter! (Better late than never)

Considering that we moved the day before, Harper’s first Easter was a bit chaotic. Not to worry, however, because it was nonetheless full of surprises for our little one. She received Easter presents from both of her Grandma’s (outfits, toys, and DVDs), Aunt Calli (two swimming suits, a cover up, and an outfit), Aunt Jesse (an outfit, a sweater, and bows), and both of her Great Grandparents (money, a bunny, and an outfit). Add to this the blocks and books that we gave her and you have one spoiled Easter princess. She is just old enough to know that she is getting something new. She had great fun receiving her gifts and coloring (well, holding one that mom colored) Easter eggs.

This is the happy face we wake up to every day, not just on Easter when we come bearing gifts.
